Tulsa Stolen Pickup Driver Arrested After Short Chase

The driver of a stolen pickup was arrested late Friday after a short Tulsa Police chase.

Just before 11 p.m. officers say they witnessed the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup driving recklessly in the 5600 block of South Peoria.  When police tried to stop the truck, the driver took off heading north on Peoria.  

They said the driver eventually pulled behind a tire store, stopped, got out and ran away.  Israel Maldonado 44, was arrested several blocks away.  

Police learned the truck was stolen from Tulsa's Metro Christian Academy. They also learned the truck had been in a hit and run crash just prior to the police chase on Riverside Drive. 

Maldonado was booked into the Tulsa County jail on a number of complaints including eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.

Jail records show Israel Maldonado has a court appearance set for May 20.
