A Pawnee man has died following a wreck Sunday morning. Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal crash.
Troopers say Thomas Allison swerved to avoid a vehicle passing a pickup on U.S. Highway 64 just outside Cleveland in Pawnee County. Allison was eastbound and the other two vehicles westbound.
Allison, 57, swerved into the westbound lane in an attempt to avoid the oncoming car that troopers say was passing in a legal zone without sufficient clearance The Pawnee resident's Honda sedan went into a broadslide and was hit by the pickup being passed.
He died early Monday in a Tulsa hospital.
Two passengers in his car, ages 9 and 11, were also injured. OHP said the 9-year-old passenger was critically hurt and the 11 year old had unknown injuries.
The driver of the pickup, Rosetta Mae Kester of Cleveland, was taken to the hospital where she was said to be stable with head and leg injuries.
Troopers say the driver who was passing didn't stop.
