There's a new Juneteenth celebration planned in downtown Tulsa this year.

It's a four-day festival of events starting June 16 that marks not only the end of slavery in the United States, but also is meant to bring about a better sense of community, healing and inclusion.

Several organizations are collaborating to host the celebration, symbolizing a unified front in the community.

"This is a celebration for all, honoring and commemorating slavery, but it's about human rights and we will not be still until everyone has those equal rights,” event spokesperson Rebecca Jimerson said.
