West Tulsa sustained significant damage from storms that rolled through the area overnight. One elderly couple in the 4900 block of South Olympia was about to go down to their storm shelter when they heard a loud cracking noise.

Two large trees snapped and slammed into the roof of their home. Fortunately no one was hurt, though the house - and two cars - were substantially damaged.

The couple's grandson told News On 6 they took their grandmother to the hospital to be checked out. It was a very frightening experience for both husband and wife, who are in their 80s, he said.

The home is just around the corner from Winnetka Heights Baptist Church which lost part of its roof in the storm.

Drivers should use caution in the area near Nogales and Olympia as several trees are down.
