A Tulsa duplex caught fire around lunchtime Sunday near 7th and Utica. EMSA medics saw smoke while they were parked at a nearby QuikTrip and called the house fire in.

Captain Mike Burgess said when firefighters got to the house, the door was open and a breaker was tripped.

There is furniture in the side of the duplex that burned, but a neighbor said they hadn't seen the resident in a month or two.

"We're a little concerned about where this person is," Burgess said. "We've done a search of the residence and didn't find anybody."

They're investigating to learn if the fire was electrical in nature or if someone may have been "squatting" in the home. The other side of the duplex is vacant.

Burgess said they got to the fire quickly enough that the homeowner will hopefully be able to repair the damage. The fire was to the back of the duplex in the kitchen area.

It got into the attic a little bit but didn't get fully involved.

"Nobody got hurt," he said.
