Green Country is getting ready to become Soggy Country. A large slow moving system is pushing into Eastern Oklahoma with rain and storms today. Heavy rainfall at times will decrease visibility and create a flooding concern especially in areas already prone to flooding.
There could be a break for about an hour or so this afternoon and early evening before heavy rain bands move up from Texas. Rounds of rain continue overnight and into Monday morning. The heavier rain should move to the east Monday morning with some clearing possible west of Tulsa for Monday afternoon.
By Tuesday morning, Green Country could see 1 to 3” of rain with the higher amounts across southeastern Oklahoma.
This is a very slow moving system. This evening, the upper level low will be spinning over Colorado and that’s where it will stay until Tuesday morning. This system became cut off from stronger winds that would help move it eastward.
Eventually it will weaken and move east but until then we have several chances for rain and storms over the next four days. From this system alone, we could see around 3” of rain in northeastern Oklahoma and 5" to 7” across southeastern Oklahoma.
