A 2-year-old child is safe after being left in a car for about an hour Monday afternoon.

An employee of the All Saints Catholic School in the 200 block of South 9th Street in Broken Arrow heard the child crying, got him out of the car and called 911. Emergency workers say the baby was hot and sweaty but OK.

Police say Kimberlee McGee, 27, ran outside and said she was the mother and had planned to check on her child periodically, but emergency workers say he'd been alone 30 to 60 minutes.

Officers arrested McGee for child endangerment.

The school says this was McGee's first day to teach a one-hour after school science class to elementary students. She was hired through an outsource agency and had passed a background check, but will not be returning.

Police say this case is an important reminder never to leave children alone in the car, because even though it was 80 degrees, the temperature in the car was 105.

McGee was booked into the Tulsa County jail on a child endangerment complaint.  Jail records show she has a court appearance set for April 11.
