Two Oklahoma Lawmakers are working to give people a better warning ahead of dangerous storms.
Congressmen Jim Bridenstine and Frank Lucas created the Weather Research and Forecasting Innovation Act last year. The bill aims to provide more funding from the government for the National Weather Service to improve its weather forecast models.
The goal is to give people a more clear warning of severe weather, hopefully saving more lives.
"Nobody needs to die from a tornado if we can get the technologies fielded appropriately and this is critically important for the State of Oklahoma," Bridenstine said.
The bill has already passed in the House of Representatives and now heads to the Senate.
Bridenstine hopes to get the bill passed and signed into law by the end of the year.
