Severe Weather Threatening Southeast Oklahoma

Severe weather is moving across southeastern Oklahoma and several counties are under advisory.

According to the National Weather Service, severe thunderstorm watches are in effect until midnight for several Oklahoma counties.

Those included in the watch are Adair, Atoka, Bryan, Cherokee, Choctaw, Delaware, Haskell, Latimer, LeFlore, McIntosh, Muskogee, Ottawa, Pittsburg, Pushmataha and Sequoyah counties.

Thew NWS has also issued freeze warnings for, Adair, Cherokee, Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Rogers and Washington counties are under a freeze watch until 1 a.m. Thursday.

Severe thunderstorms warning were also issued for much of the night, along with tornado warnings in Latimer and Pushmataha counties in Oklahoma and Washington County in Arkansas.

News On 6 chief meteorologist, Travis Meyer, said wind and hail are the main threats with the storms moving across southeast Oklahoma.

He said once those storms move out we’ll also have a bit of a temperature drop and Thursday morning will start off a bit chilly, with gusty northwest winds and temperatures in the upper 30s near 40.

As the day moves on, temperatures will climb to the 50s with clouds and possibly some sun.

Once we get past Thursday, Meyer said we’ll start to warm up the rest of the week with temperatures in the 60s and 70s before another storm system moves in Wednesday.
