Stacia Knight Weather Blog: Roller Coaster Temps, Storms In Forecast

It was another cold morning with freeze warnings across almost the entire state. We will have another pleasant afternoon before temperatures drop and we deal with additional freeze warnings tonight. 

Morning lows will be only a degree or two warmer than this morning, so take care of those sensitive plants and also our outdoor pets. Kids go back to school, and big coats will be needed at the bus stop. 

I’m sure kids will be carrying their coats home or putting them in their backpacks Monday afternoon with a big warm up taking place. Southwest winds on Monday from 15 to 25 miles per hour in the afternoon will get highs into the upper 60s. 

Fire danger returns with those strong south winds and warmer temperatures. A fire weather watch is in place for Monday and Tuesday afternoons. 

Conditions are warmer yet on Tuesday. Winds are stronger from the southwest about 20 to 35 mile per hour (with locally higher wind gusts). Moisture does start to increase ahead of our next system, but it’s not enough. Our next system will be taking shape just to our west and preparing to move in on Wednesday. 

For most of Wednesday, fire danger will continue to be a concern. Moisture will continue to slowly increase, but temperatures will stay very warm and winds will stay strong. 

As the system moves in late Wednesday afternoon, we’ll see a chance for showers and storms across eastern and southeastern Oklahoma. The higher moisture and better rain/storm chances will be for southeastern Oklahoma.
