With speeds reaching 80 m.p.h., Sand Springs Police said they chased a pickup from their community into west Tulsa early Saturday.

Police said shortly after 5 a.m. officers got a call of someone following a stolen pickup southbound on Highway 97.  When officers pulled up behind the truck, the driver took off with police in pursuit.

Officers said several times during the chase, the suspect crossed over into oncoming traffic while driving at a high rate of speed.

The chase eventually ended when the pickup ran off the road and into a ditch on West 4th Street near South 56th West Avenue.  Police said the unidentified suspect got out and ran but was quickly caught.

Police said the pickup had been reported stolen from a home in north Sand Springs.
