Emergency crews responded to a fire at a Tulsa apartment complex Friday night.
Around 6:30 p.m., smoke could be seen coming from the Sawmill Apartments at 12930 East 35th.
According to the Tulsa Fire Department, four units were destroyed and another four may have smoke and water damage. Firefighters said the units that were destroyed were facing the wind, which made it difficult to put out the flames.
“We had to hit this quite a bit because it's on the windy side, so it’s blowing it back into the fuel, into the apartment themselves. The guys did a good job as far as putting the fire out, everybody got out safely, we don't have any injuries, that’s a success," said District Chief Ronnie Cole.
They said 12 people are being displaced and getting assistance from the Red Cross.
Witness James Overton said, "It just happened. But I'm glad everyone is OK.”
No cause for the fire has been released at this time, but TFD said it may have started on a balcony.
