Broken Arrow Police arrested a mother after finding her young son outside in Tuesday afternoon's wet weather. Contina Ann McCloud was booked on a complaint of felony child endangerment.
Police say someone called in to say they found a small boy outside their door with no adult nearby.
"The boy was wearing jeans and a shirt but no shoes or socks," the arrest report states.
The arresting officer said his investigation took him to a home in the 2700 block of West Detroit where he has responded to calls in the past. He said a GMC Terrain parked in the driveway had a door ajar with the windshield wipers in the on position. There was a purse in the passenger seat and a phone also lying in the seat.
He knocked on the door of the home, but no one answered.
The officer said he made several attempts to knock on the front door as did other officers who arrived at the home. After about 30 minutes, he called the Department of Human Services. At that time, McCloud came out of the front door.
"I immediately could smell a strong odor associated with alcohol on or about Contina's person," the arrest report states.
Police say McCloud initially told them she had been lying in bed with the boy and didn't know how he'd gotten outside but then later said she'd left to take her other child to school.
Police arrested McCloud after she called her husband to arrive at the home. A DHS representative was also called and "a safety plan set in place," the report states.
The 43-year-old woman was booked on a $25,000 bond.
