Grass fires have already started popping up across Green Country Saturday afternoon. Wind gusts will continue to increase up to 30 miles per hour mainly west of Tulsa.

This will allow for fires to spread quickly.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Fire Warning for Washington, Osage, Pawnee and Payne counties.

Weather Alerts

Those are the counties where wind gusts are expected to be higher and relative humidity values lower.

Highs Saturday afternoon should reach into the mid 70s from Tulsa to the west. These warm temperatures will not help ease our fire conditions.

Authorities are asking everyone to be extra careful not to cause any sparks whether you are under a Red Flag Fire Warning or not.

Wind gusts will remain strong Saturday night into Sunday morning, but relative humidity values should rise once the temperatures start to drop.

We should be warm again Sunday.  Some rain showers are expected Sunday, but they will not be enough to ease our fire concerns.

The fire danger will remain elevated Sunday, thanks to a gusty north wind during the afternoon hours.
