The Ottawa County community of Miami hopes to see their streets packed when they celebrate the town's 125th birthday March 3 -5, 2016.
The Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau tells KOAM, the CBS affiliate in Joplin, Missouri, the city has three days full of events planned for the anniversary.
"The parade is a big deal for the anniversary. If you look back in history it's one of the things that stands out. It's what everybody remembers, that's what everybody talks about. So our goal really is to get people to engage in the parade," said Amanda Davis with the Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.
She says flags will line the streets with historic milestones in Miami's history dating back to the town's founding in 1891.
"It's very important to celebrate our milestones and especially when you get to some of these larger milestones, because Miami's such a great community and when you recall its history and you go back through the decades you really see what has made Miami, Miami and why it's a such a special community," said Amanda Davis.
