Jay Public Schools will be considering a four-day school week at Thursday’s Board of Education meeting, the Grand Lake News reports.
Several Oklahoma districts have changed to or considered a four-day week instead of five, citing budget concerns.
“I have been doing research on the pros and cons of a four-day school week. I have contracted schools such as Locust Grove, Catoosa and Barnsdall who are already doing a four-day week, or are considering it. We are trying to find ways with the budget cuts that will benefit Jay students and Jay schools,” Jay Schools Superintendent Charles Thomas told the newspaper.
