A Fort Smith man died while hiking on the Ozark Highland Trail over the weekend.

Harry E. Smith, 60, was hiking around Punch Bowl Falls on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 30) when he fell from a ledge, according to the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s department responded to the incident around 4 p.m., according to CBS affiliate KFSM.

Rescue workers from Witt Springs, Snow Ball Fire Department, Pelsor Fire Department, Lurton Fire Department, the US Forestry Service, Arkansas Game and Fish and North Arkansas Medical Center Air Evac assisted in the recovery of Smith’s body.
