You’ve probably found yourself lost before in a town that’s unfamiliar to you.
The City of Muskogee is trying to change that by adding several new directional signs in hopes of steering drivers to the hot spots.
Current signs are going to be replaced with the bigger and more decorative ones.
The City of Muskogee hopes the 22 new signs will help lead drivers to destinations like the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.
Wayne Johnson says the city's "Action In Muskogee" initiative highlighted the need for better signage around town.
“We want to create that destination signage to let them know where all the great things are happening," Johnson said.
The decorative signs are going to be much easier to see, and engineers believe they'll keep drivers headed in the right direction.
Arrows will guide drivers to the Muskogee Civic Center, Arrowhead Mall, Honor Heights and the Three Rivers Museum to name a few.
"The colors, they really look nice too... the Katy District is coming, you have the library, we wanted to make sure the downtown is known," the city’s civil engineer Prag Mahajan said.
The sign project is similar to what you see in the revitalized areas of Tulsa.
The Brady Arts District has its own signage to get drivers right to the restaurants and community areas.
Downtown signs point you to the BOK Center and city hall.
Johnson hopes the signs in Muskogee will make the town more inviting to tourists wanting to stop.
“Because if you're just driving through 69 Highway, you don't see what is Downtown Muskogee,” Johnson said.
“… you don't see all that Muskogee has to offer."
The public works department says the new signs should be installed in the next few weeks.
