Somewhat uneventful weather will be the rule this week despite severe disturbances that will move near or across the area during the next 7 days. Temperatures will not be as warm today compared to yesterday’s upper 50s and lower 60s as a cold front will clear the state this morning bringing a slight chance of sprinkles or showers to far eastern OK from approximately 8am to noon.
Strong west to northwest winds at 15 to 25 mph combined with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s will keep things feeling cool today. Tuesday and Wednesday will also remain cold with lows in the 20s & 30s and highs mostly in the mid to upper 40s. The late week period will feature warming temperatures with lows in the 30s and highs in the upper 50s and lower to mid-60s by Friday into the weekend.
The upper air flow will be transitioning from a northwest flow to more of a zonal flow by midweek before transitioning again next weekend.
The first wave arrives today with the main long wave trough not clearing the area until sometime Tuesday night. A fast moving Alberta Clipper moves across the Midwest Wednesday night into Thursday and a weak disturbance forms out of the Rockies Friday and slides across Oklahoma Saturday. But the strongest system will arrive sometime early next week with a powerful upper level low that will form across the west and drop through the southern plains. This system will more than likely bring wind conditions and a round of precip back to the area sometime next Tuesday or Wednesday.
Enjoy the weather this week.
Thanks for reading the Monday Morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
