A man is dead in an early morning crash on the Creek Turnpike in Tulsa. The wreck took place around 5 a.m. Sunday in the westbound lanes of the turnpike just west of Harvard.
Authorities say the single-vehicle wreck killed one man and injured another after their pickup left the road and hit a retaining wall.
Authorities say passenger John Virgil David Picard was pronounced dead at the scene. The 30-year-old Oklahoma City man was partially ejected through a passenger side window.
The truck hit the wall on the north side of the highway after a curve, knocking a hole in it.
The driver, Bennie C. Anderson of McAlester, was taken to the hospital with serious leg injuries. He was able to talk to troopers at the scene.
Troopers say neither man was wearing a seat belt. The cause of the collision and condition of the driver are under investigation.
