The Oklahoma Highway Patrol arrested a Broken Arrow man they said led troopers on a high-speed chase early Tuesday.
The OHP identified the driver as Taylor Kazmirczak, 19.
The OHP says the chase began on the Creek Turnpike at Memorial when a trooper spotted a Honda driving 76 m.p.h. in a 60 m.p.h speed zone.
The trooper said the driver exited onto Mingo and accelerated. The OHP said speeds reached over 100 m.p.h. before the trooper forced the Honda to stop in a field near 131st and Mingo.
The trooper said as he approached the car he smelled a strong odor of marijuana. He said the driver admitted to smoking the marijuana and to being high at the time.
The trooper arrested Kazmirczak and booked him into the Tulsa County jail on complaints including speeding, eluding, failure to stop for a red light, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension.
Jail records show Kazmirczak has a court appearance set for January 26.
