Wednesday, a group of Green Country students put down their books and picked up tools to help one of their own.

Students from Kiefer High School spent most of the day remodeling a new home for a fellow student and their family.

That student's house caught fire on Christmas Day.

"The students and the community have really come together. We've got local businesses, local churches, parents, all the students really just want to give back to this family and it's heartwarming to see how involved they've been," said Kiefer High School Principal, Sabrina Shaw.

The students hope to have the home move-in ready by this Monday.

If you’d like to help, donations can be made to Kiefer Public Schools specified for the Stephens Family Outreach Project.
