A second suspect has been arrested for stealing a calf from a Rogers County rancher, the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association says.

Robbie Don Ellis, 24, of Claremore, was arrested on a felony warrant in Nevada, Missouri. He was arrested on Dec. 26, TSCRA said in a Friday news release.

According to special rangers, the investigation began in October 2015 when a baby calf was sold at the Vinita livestock auction.

The employees at the sale barn said they became suspicious when the malnourished newborn calf was unloaded from inside the cab of a pickup by Ellis and Jenny Lynn Davis, 36, of Claremore.

According to Cummings, the investigation revealed that the calf was stolen from a ranch located in Rogers County, where the suspects temporarily were living. The victim told agents that he knew the calf was recently born but was unaware it had been stolen from his property.

The case was presented to the Rogers County District Attorney’s Office and both Ellis and Davis were charged on Dec. 5, 2015 with larceny of a domestic animal, court records show.

Davis surrendered to authorities and was released on bond. Ellis had remained at large until information surfaced that he was in the Nevada, Missouri area, TSCRA says.
