The Oklahoma Highway Patrol released dashcam video of a wild chase through Creek County that shows just how dangerous a trooper's job can be.
Creek County deputies and troopers were trying to arrest Nicholas McCarty, 21, on November 25, 2015, because they believed he'd been involved in a shooting.

They spotted McCarty's red pickup headed east on Highway 33 and started chasing him, but he would not stop. The OHP said McCarty led troopers from Highway 33 to the Turner Turnpike, where he got on, heading east towards Tulsa. He then exited at Sapulpa then got back on the turnpike heading west.
Trooper Dwight Durant eventually spun out McCarty's truck truck just west of Kellyville.
The dashcam released by the OHP at News On 6's request shows just how wild the chase was. At one point the truck runs off the side of the turnpike, climbs a hill and jumps completely over the county road before driving down the other side and getting back on the highway.
Trooper Durant told News On 6 he tried to spin out the truck more than once, but either the suspect prevented it or other vehicles were too close. He finally saw an opportunity to do it without putting anyone else at risk and took it.
McCarty is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, endangering others while eluding, drug possession, possession of a gun after former conviction, possession of a stolen vehicle, concealing stolen property and driving without a license.
