Police are investigating after finding shell casings littering the ground around a south Tulsa apartment complex. Officers were called to the area around 63rd Street and South Peoria after getting several reports of shots fired.
Sergeant Doug Brown said the investigation is being hampered because witnesses aren't cooperating.
They believe the shots were exchanged in the area around two buildings of a small apartment complex. Shell casings were found inside an apartment and outside the unit, he said.
They are processing the scene and interviewing witnesses.
"Nobody in this deal is cooperating very well, giving us information," Brown said. "People need to wake up and realize they will have as much crime in their neighborhood as they will tolerate.
"Unfortunately, we have a lot of people living in fear," Brown said. "Most of that is unfounded."
He added that no one wants to be a single witness, but if several people step forward, there is less reason to worry.
So far they haven't had word of anyone showing up for medical treatment.
If you can help police with information about the shooting, call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
