A Southwest Airlines flight bound for Chicago made what appeared to be normal landing after returning to Oakland, California Wednesday because of a landing gear issue.
The FAA says the plane, Southwest Flight 2547, landed safely after circling Oakland International Airport for several hours burning off fuel.
The flight took off from Oakland at 6:13 a.m. and immediately reported a problem.
“After takeoff, the Captain in Command made the decision to return to Oakland to check a maintenance item on the aircraft,” Southwest said in a prepared statement.
The plane made a safe landing and was greeted by a convoy of emergency vehicles. The plane had 139 people on board.
