More than a thousand families will be able to put Christmas dinner on the table this year, thanks to Catholic Charities of Tulsa.
Bag after bag was loaded up and given out to families in need on Saturday morning.
Catholic Charities is helping to feed around 1,000 families for Christmas this year.
Peter Hilger is one of the volunteers who has been helping out at the event for 10 years.
"It very much is a family Christmas tradition,” Hilger said.
And the Hilger family is just a small fraction of the volunteers, donating their time to make sure others have a holiday meal.
“Because we get more out of it than we give every year,” he said. "We're spread out. There's some of us carrying food out, some of us are bagging, some of us are rolling things between locations to help everybody out."
The families collecting the food to take home said they're thankful for the meal and for these volunteers who made their Christmas merry and bright.
