A Westville police officer injured during a police chase in Adair County Monday evening was flown to an Arkansas hospital.
The Adair County Sheriff's Office told KFSM, the CBS affiliate in Fort Smith, Arkansas, deputies were chasing an SUV when the suspect struck the officer at a road block on Highway 59 in Westville at about 8:15 p.m.
Sheriff Captain Doug Inman said the pursuit started when a deputy noticed a suspect with felony warrants driving north on Highway 59.
The police officer was in the process of laying down spike strips in the road to try to stop the suspect when he was hit by the vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.
That officer was flown to a Fayetteville hospital, where is listed in critical condition.
The names of the officer involved, and the suspect, who is in the Adair County jail have not been released.
The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation is now handling the investigation into the shooting, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
