Jenks provided plenty of highlights by winning its fourth consecutive 6A-I state championship on Friday, but the best highlight happened off the field.
As the video from Fox Sports Southwest shows, a dad made a sensational catch during the game. He caught a field goal with one hand while holding his baby in the other.
After his moment in the spotlight the dad nonchalantly tossed the ball away, suggesting he makes great catches like that one all the time.
We've learned the dad is Oliver Sutton. "I took my two-year-old son, Reed, to the Jenks vs. BA game because we are both big football fans and I had two brothers win state championships at Jenks in 1982 and 2001," Sutton said. "He was very excited for the game because their colors are similar to OU and all week he would ask me, 'Are we going to the Boomer Sooner game daddy?'"
Sutton said his son started to get restless just before halftime, so he looked for a way to quickly get to his truck to head home.
As he moved down the walkway, he saw the field goal kicker coming out and noticed their wasn’t a net behind the goalposts, so he picked up Reed to keep him from being hit and the next thing he knew the ball was coming right at him, so he caught it.
"The only thing I could think was, 'There are 15,000 people here. Don't drop it!'" he said.
He said Sportscenter made it #5 on its list of top 10 plays.
"The kids for both the Jenks and Broken Arrow bands were standing and sitting right next to us. They started going crazy, trying to give me high-fives. One band member even asked me if I could be his dad!"
His son is a little too young to understand what all the fuss is about, but Sutton said it's been a great experience.
"There will come a time when he starts to think old dad's not that cool anymore. At that time I will show him that video clip!"
