Tulsa Police say a man running from them ducked into an apartment and quickly shaved his head in an apparent attempt to avoid arrest. Police first spotted the man - Sidrick Marquis Verner - as an officer tried to make a traffic stop at 6100 South Peoria Avenue.

Verner accelerated instead of stopping and pulled into an apartment complex parking lot. Police say Verner left his car at that complex and ran on foot to an apartment at the nearby Pecan Creek complex. Police used a K9 to track him down, an arrest report states.

Several adults and children were at the apartment, and one of the witnesses reportedly told officers Verner was inside. When police called his name, he came out and was taken into custody.

"Though he had a large amount of hair when he originally ran from his car, he sported a freshly clipped head with extremely short hair," records state.  "He was positively identified as the suspect by the officer originally chasing him and was still perspiring from running."

Officers recovered a .45-caliber handgun and ammunition from the apartment. Verner reportedly admitted they belonged to him. Officers found hydrocodone and marijuana in Verner's car, according to TPD.

Verner was booked on complaints of drug possession, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm by a felon. The 27-year-old man also had some outstanding traffic warrants.
