Mayfield Mania: OU's Baker Mayfield Named Finalist For Walter Camp Award

Baker Mayfield is one of five finalists up for the Walter Camp Award.

The award is given to the player of the year and is voted on by coaches and sports information directors.

The Sooner quarterback has thrown for 3,400 yards and 35 touchdowns and is third in the nation in passing efficiency. In the Sooners Bedlam win over Oklahoma State, Mayfield threw for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns and ran for 77 yards and a score.

Mayfield is also Heisman candidate, a finalist for the Burlsworth Trophy and a semifinalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.

Mayfield’s competition includes Alabama running back Derrick Henry, Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, and Iowa defensive back Desmond King.

The winner will be announced Next Thursday at 6:00 p.m. on SportsCenter.
