The Oklahoma Highway Patrol chased then arrested a man suspected of shooting a Cushing homeowner during a burglary attempt Wednesday morning.

The OHP put out an alert about the chase at about 8:15 a.m.

Troopers started chasing the suspect's pickup when they spotted it headed east on Highway 33. The suspect then headed east on the Turner Turnpike at the Kellyville gate. The OHP says the truck exited at Sapulpa then re-entered the Turner headed west.

Trooper Dwight Durant told News On 6 he used the precision immobilization or "pit" maneuver to spin the truck out of control and troopers arrested the driver just west of the Kellyville exit on the Turner Turnpike.

The OHP closed both westbound lanes of the Turner Turnpike for several minutes while they got the situation under control. They reopened one lane as they waited for tow trucks to come remove the damage patrol car and the suspect's pickup.

Paramedics with Creek County Ambulance treated the man for injuries.
