Pittsburg County Boy Hit By School Bus Brought To Tulsa Hospital

A boy hit by a school bus in Pittsburg County Thursday morning was brought to a Tulsa hospital.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 7:45 Thursday morning one mile south of Arpelar in Pittsburg County.

The OHP said Della Cooper, 39 was driving a Haywood Schools bus with 12 passengers on board on a county road. She had just completed a pickup and was approaching the next one slowly when a boy slipped and fell and was struck by the rear wheels of the bus, the OHP said.

The boy's parents took him to a hospital in McAlester and he was transferred to St. Francis in Tulsa. The OHP said he was listed in guarded condition. It did not release the boy's age.

The trooper said the driver never saw the boy and was not cited.
