A man is in jail Thursday morning after leading police on a chase in a stolen truck.
Officers say it started at Admiral and Sheridan at about 1:30 a.m. and finally ended near Mingo Creek just north of Interstate 244.
Police booked Harley Campbell, 35, into the Tulsa County jail for possession of a stolen vehicle after the commission of a felony and eluding. He is being held in lieu of $8,500 bond.
TPD said an officer initially checked the tag on the vehicle Campbell was driving at the Tudor Inn in the 6400 block of East Archer. When he found the truck was stolen, he said Campbell drove away.
Speeds in the pursuit reached upwards of 100 mph and patrol cars terminated the chase near I-244 and Garnett and the TPD helicopter began to follow him, police said.
Campbell crashed into Mingo Creek, climbed an embankment and ran into the Mingo RV Park, TPD said. He was arrested inside the park.
The helicopter’s involvement was instrumental in locating and catching Campbell, officers said. Police said the truck had been stolen from the River Spirit Casino.
