9-0: Offensive, Defensive Adjustments Lead OSU To Upset No. 8 TCU

As an unbeaten team entering November, you might think the Cowboys wouldn't want to change much. But a few different looks made a big difference in the upset of TCU.

Defensively a switch to a 3-man front and a change in coverage led to the first interception by Jordan Burton. It was the beginning of a tough day for Heisman hopeful Trevone Boykin.

"He stares down his receivers a little bit so we had an idea that we could get a lot of break ups and we have guys who can catch balls, so I'm happy about that," said Cowboys linebacker Chad Whitener.

The Cowboys picked off four passes, Whitener returning the last one for a touchdown.

There were changes on the other side of the ball as well. On a 3rd and long TCU paid extra attention to David Glidden, not a bad idea, except that it allowed Marcell Ateman to slip behind everyone for a touchdown.

In all, Mason Rudolph connected with Cowboy receivers for touchdowns of 48, 50, 12, 82 and 74 yards. James Washington was on the business end of three of them.

"We felt like there was an advantage with the way they were defending us and singling him up,” said OSU head coach Mike Gundy. “We think we have some guys who can make some plays there and he's certainly got some ability to run down the field and make a play and so it worked out for us."

For those on the College Football Playoff committee who want more defense from Big 12 teams, the Cowboys came up with a 4th quarter goal line stand.

With all of the Cowboys changes one thing emphatically stays the same; OSU is still unbeaten.
