A small plane piloted by former Walmart CEO Bill Simon made an emergency landing on a Fayetteville street in front of the local high school Tuesday morning.

Fayetteville Police Sgt. Craig Stout told KFSM, the CBS affiliate in Fort Smith, Arkansas, aside from Simon, also on board were co-pilot Cliff Slincard and passenger Maurice Willis.

All three were taken to a Fayetteville hospital. Shakemia Harris, who was driving a pickup on the street was hit by the small plane. Police said he suffered minor injuries.

The fixed wing, single engine Cirrus SR22T aircraft started having oil pressure problems just after taking off from the Bentonville Airport, Stout said.
He says they attempted to land at Drake Field in Fayetteville, but popped the emergency parachute and made a slow landing.

The plane was on its way to Waco, Texas. Simon is an adjunct professor at Baylor University.

According to FlightAware, the plane dropped nearly 9,000 feet at about 250 miles per hour within 30 seconds before its parachute deployed and it floated 2,200 feet to the ground.

Federal Aviation Administration investigators are on scene.
