A former Osage Nation police officer was bound over for trial Friday in Tulsa County. Corey Blake Stewart is charged with leaving the scene of a fatality accident and obstructing an officer after the death of a pedestrian in May, 2015.
His next court date is November 2, 2015.
An affidavit of probable cause states that Stewart was in a pickup driving eastbound on East Admiral Place in South 68th East Avenue when he struck and killed Shawn Rex Watashe. Watashe was crossing northbound on East Admiral. Watashe died of his injuries at a Tulsa Hospital.
"The suspect did not stop to render aid to the victim," court documents state. Police say Stewart returned to the scene about 20 minutes after hitting Watashe, telling police he thought he hit something in the roadway and wanted to make sure it wasn't a person.

Stewart was driving an unmarked ONPD vehicle when he returned to the scene, and the pickup was parked at Stewart's residence, the affidavit states. Police say Stewart parked the truck on the grass near some shrubs and an overhanging tree "in an attempt to conceal it from view."
Previous versions of this story reported that Stewart was driving the police vehicle when he hit Watashe, but the affidavit of probable cause corrects that information. Investigators say Stewart was driving the police car when he returned to the scene but was in a pickup when he hit Watashe, according to court documents.
