Two Arrested In Tulsa Shooting Death

Homicide detectives have arrested two men for second-degree murder in connection to a Tulsa man's shooting death. They aren't sure whether Jerald Ross or Daulton Day fired the shot that killed the victim, but both men have been arrested, according to Homicide Sergeant David Walker.

Officers got a call about a shooting outside a home in the 3500 block of East King near Harvard just after 2 a.m. Investigators say a man who had been shot in the stomach was found lying in the front yard of the home.  

The man, 21-year-old Jared Dick, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

 Walker said the investigation centered on the residence and some witnesses who remained at the scene.

"The majority of those witnesses were affected by some sort of drug," he said in a news release.

Walker said the witnesses were cooperative, but their recollections differed, so police had to "wade through" the various versions of events.

Police said two men ran off after the shooting and were later located. They are Jerald Ross, 18, and 21-year-old Daulton Day. Police believe Ross may have fired the shot that struck Dick but said Day also shot at the victim.

"Two different types of shell casings are recovered from the scene, and investigators were able to recover two separate handguns from two different locations," Walker said.

"The Medical Examiner will have to determine which type of round hit Dick."

Police haven't uncovered a motive in the shooting.
