Motorcyclist Arrested In Okmulgee County After High-Speed Pursuit

Sand Springs police chased a motorcyclist through three counties Monday morning. Police say the rider gave up in Beggs after he turned onto a gravel road.

Sand Springs Police say it all started when an officer tried to stop Aaron Renfro for running a stop sign near 51st and 129th West Avenue.  Authorities say the 45-minute chase reached speeds of 100 miles per hour on Highway 97.

The chase went through Prattville, south on Highway 97, through Sapulpa, Mounds, and Kiefer before ending in Beggs. Police say when the cyclist hit the gravel roads in Okmulgee County, he stopped.

"Once he hit the gravel road, he started tossing his left hand up as if he was going to give up," said Sergeant Kyle Alexander, Sand Springs Police.

Renfro was taken into custody without incident after surrendering, and no one was hurt, the officer said.

Renfro, 27, was booked on complaints of driving with a revoked license, eluding police after a felony conviction, running a stop sign, not having a motorcycle endorsement on his license and no insurance.
