Tulsa Police arrested a driver they say hit an 8-year-old boy at an elementary school then left the scene.

It happened at about 7:35 Wednesday morning at Lindbergh Elementary which is located at 931 89th East Avenue.

Police identified the driver as Vanessa Guzman, 51.

Officers said she was backing up when she hit an 8-year-old boy. Guzman's truck knocked the boy to the ground but he was able to roll out of the way as she continued to back up, according to the arrest report.

Witnesses told police they yelled at Guzman to stop and she got out and asked if the boy was alright. The report says she told witnesses she was late for work and got back into her truck and left. A parent followed her and got a tag number, according to police.

Officers arrested her in Broken Arrow on complaints of felony hit and run, no driver's license, no insurance and a warrant for driving under suspension.

Police said the boy hit his head on both the truck and the ground and had a scrape on his elbow but said he went to class.
