Pumpkin patches are popular this time of year, but one, in particular, is putting a unique twist on them, with pumpkins made of glass.

Executive Director of the Tulsa Glassblowing School, Janet Duvall, said, “We're gonna have hundreds of pumpkins."

She said they always make pumpkins this time of year, some you'd never know they were glass.

Tuesday, Kenneth Gonzales and other glass artists were hard at work, making pumpkins - big ones, little ones, all different sizes.

Most of the glass starts out clear, so they add the color by rolling it in little bits of glass called frits, then, back in the heat, with a little puff of air to help the shape.

The big event is Saturday, October 17th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tulsa Botanic Garden.

You'll find hundreds of glass pumpkins and the Garden Deva will have some of her seasonal pieces there as well.
