A Claremore man is behind bars after police say they arrested him for sexual acts with a minor.
Tulsa Police said they arrested 36-year-old William Jones on Wednesday after receiving reports he had met a 15-year-old girl for sexual acts.
Police said they spoke with the victim’s mother who told them she noticed inappropriate text messages on her daughter’s phone and said, based on the messages, the man was supposed to meet her daughter at 6:00 that evening.
Detectives then spoke with the 15 year old. She told them she met Jones online and had met with him two times in person.
Police said the victim said on their second meeting Jones asked her to perform sexual acts after learning she was in high school.
According to the report, Jones arrived at the meeting spot around 6:20 Wednesday night before suddenly speeding away.
Police say Jones left the neighborhood, headed north on North Gilcrease Museum Road around 85 miles per hour, got in the wrong lane of traffic to pass another driver then ran a stop sign.
They say he was eventually stopped by an officer in the 2300 block of West Pine Street and taken into custody.
When police searched the car they said they found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun.
Jail records show Jones was booked into Osage County jail for forcible oral sodomy, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless driving.
