Authorities have arrested a woman who stole an Osage County deputy's patrol car in north Tulsa early Monday while handcuffed.
The woman has been identified as Madison Dickson, 19.
It all started around 3 a.m. Monday when Osage County Sheriff's Deputies pulled Dickson over near an intersection just south of the Osage Casino.
The deputy stopped her Jeep Liberty at 36th Street North near the Tisdale Expressway. The sheriff's office said the Jeep had been reported stolen. The deputy arrested Dickson and put her in the back seat of his patrol car.
"You know, that's one of the biggest nightmares for law enforcement, is to have your car stolen," said Deputy Justin Green, Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say Dickson brought that nightmare to life when she gave them a false name then somehow climbed to through the window dividing the back seat from the front seat and drove away, all while wearing handcuffs.
Tulsa County Sheriff's Deputies found her hours later at her mother's house in west Tulsa. She was still cuffed.
"Still has the cuffs on, still has the clothing," said Sergeant Jeffrey Freeman, TCSO. "She's a little dirty, from the run this morning."
The teenager has had similar run-ins with police before. In January, 2014, she pleaded guilty to impersonating a woman named Tiffani Wasson to avoid arrest. Dickson had shoplifted and had marijuana on her.
Four months later, she pleaded guilty to driving a car that wasn't hers.
Deputies took Dickson's second arrest Monday a step further.
"She's been shackled and restrained properly so she can't get away," Sgt. Freeman said. They put her in a special patrol car with a cage - and added security - to keep history from repeating itself.
"After it happened once, we're not going to let it happen a second time," he said.
Tulsa Police found the abandoned patrol car near 29th West Avenue and Brady just north of the Sand Springs Expressway.
She was booked on complaints of escape after lawful arrest, larceny of an auto, two counts of obstructing an officer, defective vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle and malicious destruction of property.
