The scene in the TU locker room after the Golden Hurricane’s dramatic win to start the season has gone somewhat viral.
The team rallied to beat to beat Florida Atlantic in overtime, and when they got back, Head Coach Philip Montgomery said it was time to have fun.
"Just went with it and everybody had a good time with it, and everything else that wasn't on video happened later. So, you know, those locker room times, those are the things you kind of live for and those are special times that you never forget," he said.
TU Defensive Tackle, Derrick Luetjen said, "He's got all the passion in the world and you can see it in everything he does. It's awesome. That locker room was something else after the game."
But the fun's over now, and it’s time for a business trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico. And for Coach Montgomery, after a four-hour-and-15-minute game, there is a lot to review – positive and negative.
"I think we'll see some dramatic increases in some areas. We've got to do a better job of starting the football game and got to do a better job of starting the second half, and those are two areas that we'll focus on," he said.
And sure, Keevan and Keyarris were outstanding; the distribution from Dane Evans, good and bad.
Montgomery said, "I thought he handled the offense pretty well, threw the ball extremely well. We missed some reads, we missed some tag things that we'd normally hit, but overall I thought he really led our football team."
