As part of the Booksmart Tulsa series, British-Indian author Salman Rushdie will be celebrating part of "Banned Books Week" here in Tulsa.
Rushdie is best known for his book, "The Satanic Verses.”
That book caused widespread protests by Muslims in several countries who said it was blasphemous.
The leader of Iran even called for his death.
On Sept. 28, Rushdie will speak at All Souls Unitarian Church.
Rushdie will read from his new novel, have a conversation with Booksmart Tulsa founder Jeff Martin and participate in a brief Q&A session with the audience.
Tickets are on sale at Barnes & Noble at 41st and Yale.
