A University of Tulsa student is recovering after being hit by a car on campus Tuesday evening.

Police say the 19-year-old student was hit near the women's dorm at 6th and Delaware by an elderly driver. The woman's mother told News On 6 the student was drawing with chalk on the sidewalk when she was struck at about 7:30 p.m.

EMSA took the student to a hospital with scrapes, bruises and a possible concussion.  The hospital reports she is listed in fair condition.

Police say the driver of the car was an 81-year-old woman who was having some sort of medical problem. They said the woman's family had been looking for her and was about to file a missing person's report when the accident happened.

TU says campus security chased the driver down and said she had no idea where she was or that she had hit someone.

Police said the woman will not be cited.
