A man was cited for bringing drugs into the Tulsa City Courthouse on Friday morning.

A News On 6 photojournalist was at the courthouse for a separate matter when he witnessed a man running from a security guard about 11 a.m., so he followed with his camera.

Court Administrator Kelli Brader said it started when the man was attempting to pass through the security checkpoint in the building. As he emptied his pockets into the plastic X-ray bucket, one of the items he dropped in was marijuana, Brader said.

The guard was taking him into custody when he took off running, and a chase ensued, she said.

Our camera caught up with them as the guard was holding the man down on the ground and placing handcuffs on him outside.

Brader said she wasn’t sure of the man’s identity, but he received a citation and was released.

She also had a bit of advice for anyone who comes to a courthouse to conduct business or appear before a judge.

“[Leave your] drugs and paraphernalia at home, because we can’t let you in,” Brader said. “Any guns, knives, drugs or paraphernalia.”
