The grand jury investigating the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office after a reserve deputy fatally shot an unarmed man has heard testimony from the sheriff's top deputy.

Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy John Bowman testified Wednesday for about two hours. He declined to comment on what he said during the closed proceedings before the grand jury.

Bowman was reassigned in the shooting aftermath and is now in charge of operations at the office.

Robert Bates, who has since left the reserve deputy program, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree manslaughter in the April shooting death of Eric Harris. He has a trial date set for February 2016.

Bates is a friend of Sheriff Stanley Glanz and made donations to the agency -- raising questions about whether Bates received special treatment.

Earlier this month, former sheriff's office Major Shannon Clark also testified before the grand jury.
