The Muskogee Police Department has announced the retirement of a 10-year veteran K9 officer.

K9 officer Robbi, a Dutch Shepherd, has a medical condition that limits his abilities to serve, a news release says.

Robbi is retiring because of hip dysplasia, a common diagnosis in working police dogs, MPD said. Robbi had been on medical leave before the decision was made to retire him.

Robbi initially partnered with Sgt. CB Abel, and finished up his career with Officer Jason Steele. He will enjoy his retirement living at Steele’s home.

“We greatly appreciate the service and dedication that Robbi gave to the Muskogee Police Department, and the citizens of Muskogee, and he will not be an Officer that will be easily replaced,” a news release said.
