A 22-year-old Tulsa man accused of shooting and killing a man early Thursday was arrested by police early Friday.
Police said Jose Vaught's vehicle was tracked to an apartment in the 5900 block of South Santa Fe and he was arrested just before 2 a.m.
Homicide Sgt. Dave Walker said officers were called to a home in the 2600 block of East Newton Place early Thursday about a shooting. They arrived and found Joey Aguirre, 20, dead lying in the street from several gunshot wounds.
Walker said almost immediately they identified Jose Vaught as the shooter. He says detectives and members of the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force worked throughout the day Thursday to find Vaught.
He said after interviewing residents of the apartment where they located Jose Vaught, Sgt. Walker does not anticipate any more arrests.
Jose Vaught was booked into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony.
Jail records show Vaught is being held without bond pending a court appearance Friday.
